Volkswagen's new Golf
Published Thursday September 4th, 2008

After selling some 26 million units in Europe, a new and heavily revised 6th-generation Golf is expected later this year. Improved in every area, the new car will be styled with a look that points towards Volkswagen's future design language while boasting new technology, safety and comfort for its owners.
Automatic cruise control will be available, as will active chassis control, park steering assist and a full suite of standard safety features. VW says this is the most exquisitely assembled, quietest and high-tech Golf to date, too. Power will come from a selection of gas or diesel engines, including one of two TDI powerplants and an innovative four-cylinder gas engine that boasts performance and mileage enhancements by using both a turbocharger and a supercharger on the same powerplant. The engines will be mated to a 6 or 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, depending on the application.
