If it's too good to be true...
It probably isn't.
The Montreal Gazette is reporting that there is no unlimited data plan for the iPhone.
The document posted on Ehmac.ca forum by someone claiming to be a Rogers Wireless employee spread like wildfire by giddy bloggers. It said Rogers will charge iPhone buyers $30 a month - on top of a voice plan - for unlimited data, far below what people were expecting.
But new data plans released by Rogers today tell a different story. The wireless company, the only one eligible to carry the anticipated iPhone, will charge $30 - for 300 megabytes of use. Higher limits will cost more, up to $100 for six gigabytes of data.
You can check out the full story here.
Honestly, I don't know if I'll get an iPhone at these prices. I might have done six gigs for $30, or even, 1 gig for $30, but 300 megs?
Given the iPhone can be used as a GPS device, an e-mail platform as well as a full web browser, it's easy to see someone hitting 1 gig or more in usage.
I hope the Gazette is wrong on this but somehow I doubt it.

However...
After reading yesterday's post, becoming "nerdgasmic", going home to sell my wife on the idea of me having the iPhone because it makes sense for me to have one. Then... this...if this report is true you're going to see organized "nerdmobs" committing random acts of "nerdacide".
