The uncommonness of common sense

From the Globe and Mail today:

A woman in her 20s was hit by a streetcar this week while listening to her iPod, prompting police to issue a stern warning to pedestrians who pay more attention to tunes than traffic.

I'm going to confess something - I used to bike to work listening to my iPod. I've stopped doing that after my wife told me about a cyclist who was badly hurt in Moncton in a cycle-vehicle collision. Though I don't think the injured cyclist was wearing an iPod, the incident heightened my safety awareness.

If you're going to use an iPhone while jogging, biking or walking near traffic, turn down the volume.
