Associated Press threatens to go after bloggers
Looks like the AP is threatening to go after websites that "illegally" use their content.
The AP further threatened to “pursue legal and legislative actions” against websites that do not properly license news content, and plans to develop a system to track its members' news distributed online to determine whether it is being legally used.
I have no problem with the practice of scraping - that is mentioning one to three paragraphs of a story and then commenting on it, as long as one links to the orginal source where it was found.
I do have huge issues with people taking entire stories and republishing them on their blog and I think AP, CP, Reuters should go after that. But I doubt they'll be that smart. I can only hope the system described in the Reuters story I've quoted it smart enough to tell the difference between fair use / fair comment and theft.

My point is that I doubt they will purse this "smartly".
