TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Monday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:
Toronto Stock Exchange (10,251.40 up 688.91 points):
Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Transportation equipment. Up 36 cents, or 8.26 per cent, to $4.72 on 16,768,813 shares. The plane and train maker's stock is starting to regain losses after a steep decline that started in August culminating to a two-year low close at $3.50 on Oct. 10.
Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Up 65 cents, or 11.71 per cent, to $6.20 on 10,147,687 shares.
Suncor Energy Inc. (TSX:SU). Oil and gas. Up $4.28, or 16.32 per cent, to $30.50 on 8,598,290 shares. The energy sector led the advancers on the TSX, jumping 14.29 per cent as the price of oil on the New York Mercantile Exchange rise. Light, sweet crude oil climbed for a second trading day in a row jumping US$2 to US$74.25.
Breakwater Resources (TSX:BWR). Miner. Up 1.5 cents, or 14.29 per cent, to 12 cents on 8,213,225 shares.
Blue Note Mining Inc. (TSX:BN). Miner. Unchanged at a penny on 8,149,317 shares after it halted production at its Caribou and Restigouche mines in N.B. as current prices on zinc and lead make the complex unprofitable.
Uranium One Inc. (TSX:UUU). Miner. Up 14 cents, or 14.14 per cent, at $1.13 on 7,701,144 shares.
TSX Venture Exchange (984.94 up 38.82 points):
Robex Resources Inc. (TSXV:RBX). Miner. Up two cents to four cents on 3,846,112 shares as the Montreal-based miner announced a complete turnover on its board of directors as part of its strategic program which included Rolland Veilleux as the new chairman.
Ithaca Energy Inc. (TSXV:IAE). Up eight cents, or 22.22 per cent, to 44 cents on 3,485,025 shares.
Companies reporting major news:
Emera Inc. (TSX:EMA). Power producer. Up $1.09, or 5.59 per cent, to $20.59 on 197,312 shares on news it is increasing its dividend to an annual rate of $1.01 per share from 95 cents.
First Nickel Inc. (TSX:FNI). Miner. Down a penny, or 18.18 per cent, to 4.5 cents on 1,730,000 shares as shares dropped after the company suspended production and initiating a care and maintenance program at its wholly owned Lockerby mine near Sudbury due to low metal prices and a tough economic environment.
Hillsborough Resources Ltd. (TSX:HLB). Up six cents, or 21.05 per cent, to 34.5 cents on 639,970 shares. Geneva-based Vitol Group will provide US$6 million cash to Hillsborough with proceeds to be used for improvements and capital additions to the plant and underground operations at the Quinsam coal mine near Campbell River, B.C.
