Organizers of the outdoor festival didn't offer details on the nature of the problem. "Our thoughts are with the Tragically Hip right now," Andrew Bridge, director of Virgin Festivals, said in a release Friday.

Bridge said the festival will proceed on Citadel Hill as a free show. Fans who have already bought tickets will receive refunds.

The Offspring, Metric, Dinosaur Jr., In-Flight Safety, Handsome Furs, Hey Rosetta, Arkells and Dog Day are scheduled to perform.

In lieu of an entry fee, fans are encouraged to bring a donation to a local food bank.
