New Brunswick government to allow Sunday hunting during deer season

FREDERICTON - The New Brunswick government is set to allow a limited amount of hunting on Sundays.

Starting this fall, Sunday hunting will be permitted for three weeks during the period of Oct. 28 - Nov. 17, which is during the deer hunting season.

Also hunted during this time are bear, small game, grouse, and migratory birds.

Natural Resources Minister Donald Arseneault says the amendment to the Fish and Wildlife Act lessens the restriction on hunters, while balancing the needs of the non-hunting public by limiting the number of weekends.

New Brunswick becomes the 10th jurisdiction in Canada to allow the practice.

This is absurd. Now there are three weeks of the year that non-hunting NBers will not be able to enjoy the woods at all. Fear of being shot keeps me out of the woods during deer season as it does most other non-hunting people that I know who enjoys the woods....

I personallly think its fantastic. Im a non hunter myself but it does give the hunters who work 5 days a week and xtra 3 days to get their deer. Its only for 3 weeks; such a short season. I think personally its a shame they dont extend it one more week to give those hunters a better chance. I love going for walks in the woods or on my 4wheeler and just make sure i have my hunters orange on.
