HALIFAX, N.S. - Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Nova Scotia in advance of a taste of blustery weather.

A combination of strong winds, wet snow and rain is forecast for the province by Friday. Inland areas could see up to 10 centimetres of wet snow, while rain is expected in coastal areas where winds blow onshore.

The precipitation is expected to fall mainly as rain in all areas as temperatures climb through the day on Friday.

As well, winds will strengthen considerably on Friday, with the strongest winds over eastern Cape Breton.

Environment Canada says higher than normal water levels are expected along the Gulf of St. Lawrence and Northumberland Strait coastlines.
