SYDNEY, N.S. - The Crown has dropped two charges against a student accused of damaging the soccer field at Cape Breton University last fall.

Jonathan Alexander Wyse, 23, of Mississauga, Ont., was charged with mischief and property damage after someone drove a car on the field just prior to the national university women's soccer finals in November.

The field sustained more than $2,000 worth of damage.

Crown attorney Shane Russell suggested Thursday there wasn't a reasonable chance of getting a conviction in the case.
