I took this picture of a sunfish in the Bay of Fundy south of Grand Manan while aboard the CGSS Hudson in August. – Mike Strong, L’Etete A bizarre-looking creature, the ocean sunfish can reach nearly four metres in length, although most specimens are much smaller (but still large enough to be pretty impressive). This species occurs in temperate and tropical seas worldwide and is a frequently reported summer visitor to the outer Bay of Fundy and the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Jellyfish make up a significant part of the sunfish diet, but crustaceans, molluscs and other marine invertebrates are also taken. – Don McAlpine
