COVID-19 killed a New Brunswicker aged 45-64 between March 31 and April 6, according to the province.

The news was included in its weekly update on COVID and influenza.

Eleven people required hospital treatment for COVID between March 31-April 6, and two people needed intensive care.

There were four lab-confirmed COVID outbreaks, including three in nursing homes and one in an undisclosed facility.

“COVID-19 activity remains moderate; some indicators … decreased slightly during the current reporting period,” read a note accompanying the data.

There were no influenza deaths between March 31 and April 6, but eight people – including two youths aged 5-19 – needed hospital treatment, and two people needed intensive care.

There was one lab-confirmed flu outbreak in a nursing home, and one outbreak of influenza-like illness in a school.

Influenza activity remained “relatively stable” between March 30 and April 6, according to the report.
