ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - A delegation of 15 businesses and organizations from Atlantic Canada's aquaculture industry is in Chile this week attending the Aqua Sur 2008 International Aquaculture show.

The trade show, held every second year, attracts buyers and sellers from over 40 countries.

Newfoundland Fisheries Minister Tom Rideout, who is attending the event, says the Chilean aquaculture industry is one of the most successful in the world.

He says Chile has faced some very serious challenges along the way and can teach other countries some valuable lessons.

Among those attending are the Newfoundland Aquaculture Industry Association, Allen's Fisheries and Sunrise Fish Farms of Deer Lake, N.L., the Marine Institute, Sapphire Sea Farms and Aqua Gem Consulting of St. John's, N.L.
