HALIFAX - Ottawa and Nova Scotia are both going to contribute about $11.1 million towards the cost of the Canada Winter Games in Halifax in 2011.

The announcement was made today by Peter MacKay, the federal minister responsible for Nova Scotia. The City of Halifax will also be contributing, providing $8.85 million towards the sports event.

It's the third time the Games are being held in Nova Scotia.

The Canada Summer Games were held in Halifax in 1969, and the Winter Games were held in Sydney, N.S., in 1987.
