Two N.S. manufacturers received assistance from development agency

HALIFAX - Two Nova Scotia manufacturers are receiving financial help from the province's business development agency to help develop new products and markets.

Nova Scotia Business Inc. is providing $74,000 in payroll rebates and a $225,000 loan to Surrette Battery Company Ltd., based in Springhill.

It is also providing $138,000 in payroll rebates and a $600,000 loan to Parrsboro Metal Fabricators Ltd.

Surrette Battery in Springhill manufactures lead-acid battery manufacturers, and is aiming to provide its products to the railway sector.

The company also plans to target the European and Mexican markets for its renewable energy products.

Parrsboro Metal Fabricators plans to increase the fuel efficiency of its furnaces and heating products.
