Some N.L. sealers say they've been getting threatening phone calls

TWILLINGATE, N.L. - A number of Newfoundland sealers say they have recently received threatening phone calls because of their participation in the hunt.

Jack Troake of Twillingate says his phone has been ringing late into the night and the person on the other end of the line has been using "unbelievable language."

Troake says he thinks the caller is more to be pitied than anything else.

He says he can laugh about it but Ottawa should be doing more to protect sealers from protesters.

Troake says it hurts to be spoken to like that when he knows Newfoundlanders are hardworking and the "kindest people on earth."
