ABBOTSFORD, B.C. - A B.C. man heading east for a Halloween party is on his way again after officials seized a deactivated grenade and plastic gun from his luggage at the Abbotsford airport today.

The items showed up during a luggage scan.

The police were called and took the 20-year-old into custody.

Shortly after, the RCMP Explosives Disposal Unit arrived and determined the item was either an old training grenade or a replica.

Police say it had been drilled out in the middle and posed no threat to the public

The man was released from custody with no charges and he was allowed to take a later flight. The situation caused a minor disruption to airport operations.
