Ocean Spray to open cranberry farm in N.B.

Published Thursday June 4th, 2009

ROGERSVILLE, N.B. - The world's largest cranberry company is opening a huge cranberry farm in eastern New Brunswick.

Ocean Spray broke ground today on a 3,400 hectare farm on Crown land near Rogersville.

The company is leasing the land from the province, and is expected to invest up to $90 million to develop the farm.

Ocean Spray CEO Randy Papdellis says New Brunswick offers an ideal growing environment.

New Brunswick Premier Shawn Graham says the project puts Rogersville on the map as one of Canada's key cranberry growing regions.

The new farm is expected to have its first crop in 2012.

Sounds like a good news story. This type of farm seems to work in the Maritimes. Good luck.
