One-year-old found dead in backyard hot tub, foul play not suspected

Published Sunday June 28th, 2009

GEORGINA, Ont. - Police are investigating the death of an infant found in a backyard hot tub north of Toronto.

York region officers were called to a home in the town of Georgina just before 8:30 a.m. Sunday on the report of a child not breathing.

Emergency workers who went to the home attempted to revive the one-year-old, who was removed from the hot tub by a family member.

The baby - whose identity is not being released - was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say family members were inside the home when the child crawled outside and onto the back deck where the hot tub is located.

Officers say there is no evidence of criminality and no foul play is suspected.

Such a tragedy - the parents must feel terrible.
I guess hot tubs should be covered when not in use.
