NYC woman grows 6-foot-long zucchini in backyard

NEW YORK - A New York City woman has managed to grow a 6-foot-long zucchini in her backyard - using nothing more than fertilizer, water and her own labour.

Apollonia Castitlione cultivated the giant Long Italian zucchini at her home in Queens.

She says she's had her vegetable garden for 26 years, but has never seen anything so spectacular. She says her zucchinis usually grow to no more than 4-feet-long.

The 48-year-old says several friends gave her the seeds that she used to grow the immature fruit, which is usually treated like a vegetable.
