One of only two females among remaining nine Canadian Idol hopefuls eliminated
TORONTO - There's one lone female remaining among the final eight contestants on Canadian Idol.
Tuesday night's results show saw Katherine St-Laurent eliminated from the competition.
The CTV program revealed the 17-year-old Otterburn Park, Que., student, who performed "Move Over" by Janis Joplin the previous night, received the fewest number of some 2.1 million votes cast this week.
That leaves Amberly Thiessen, 19, of Seven Persons, Alta., as the lone female competitor remaining.
The theme of performances this week was Rock and Roll Heaven. Next week's "Unplugged" episode airing Monday will see the final eight contestants working with former Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale.
On Tuesday, the show also announced that future guest stars confirmed to appear on the show this season include Bryan Adams, Simple Plan and Tom Jones.
The seven other remaining contestants are:
