Questerre announces successful shale gas test from Gentilly well in Quebec

CALGARY - Questerre Energy Corp. (TSX:QEC) says drilling at its Gentilly shale gas well in Quebec was successful, flowing more than 800,000 cubic feet per day.

The Calgary company, which is developing the project with Talisman Energy Inc. (TSX:TLM), said Talisman agreed to add another frac to the testing program on the "promising results."

That phase is now underway, with the option of two additional fracs to follow.

"This is an excellent result for a vertical frac, especially given that only one set of perforations was stimulated," stated Questerre CEO Michael Binnion.

"There is obviously a lot more work to do and it will take time for final results to come in, however, initial results continue to meet or exceed our expectations."

Questerre and Talisman are considering an increase in the capital allocated to completing, testing and evaluating the well, the company added.
