Alberta man dies after his motorcycle hits a deer on a dark highway

PEACE RIVER, Alta. - An Alberta man is dead after his motorcycle struck a deer on a highway in the dark on the weekend near Peace River, Alta.

Police found the motorcycle in the ditch when they arrived on the scene Saturday night.

Both the driver and the deer were found dead nearby.

Investigators say the man, in is 40's, was from the Peace River region, but his name has not been released at the request of his family.

RCMP say the man was traveling alongside of another motorcycle when the deer crossed their path, causing the deadly collision.

The crash occurred on Highway 683, about five kilometres east of Highway 744.
