ATHENS, Texas - The aunt of infamous Branch Davidian sect leader David Koresh has been indicted on a murder charge in Texas in the stabbing death of her older sister, Koresh's mother.

The Athens Daily Review and Tyler Morning Telegraph report that a Henderson County grand jury returned the indictment against 54-year-old Beverly Clark on Tuesday.

Clark is accused in the January death of 60-year-old Bonnie Clark Halderman.

Authorities responding to a 911 call found Halderman in Clark's home near Chandler, about 280 kilometres north of Houston.

Clark remains jailed and her lawyer didn't immediately return a phone call seeking comment.

In 1993, Koresh and dozens of his followers died when their standoff with authorities ended in a fire that consumed their Waco compound.
