SHELBURNE, N.S. - RCMP are looking for a suspect after a 12-year-old boy was approached by a man in a van in southwestern Nova Scotia.

The incident happened around 9 a.m. Saturday on Highway 103 in the Sable River area.

Const. Sandra Paris says a man driving a black or dark blue minivan with tinted side windows reportedly offered the boy a drive.

The boy declined and the man drove off.

A vehicle and a man of a similar description were seen again the same day in the same area around 1 p.m., parked on the shoulder of the road for about 15 minutes before leaving.

The suspect is described as being a white male between 50 and 60 years old, with short grey hair, a short grey beard and a moustache.

So Co, although while this may be true, not everyone has a criminal mind, you can't take a chance. EVER.

I like your outlook So Co.

Yesterday, I saw a neighborhood kid pushing her bike in the pouring rain and felt like offering her a ride....but decided against it because of this very thing. It's hard to be nice to stangers anymore.

Way back in the '70s I hitchhiked across this country several times and never met any perverts...now people see them around every corner.

:(

This is a response to So Co - If this child felt uncomfortable when a stranger approached them, by all means, they should NOT get in a vehicle. Obviously he felt in danger as he alerted the police to the matter. If this person did not mean any harm, why are they searching for him? Why has he not come forward? Would you approve of your child getting into a vehicle with a stranger?
