Halifax police lay over 60 charges against 13 people after drug and guns bust

HALIFAX, N.S. - Police say 13 people are facing more than 60 charges after an operation in the Halifax area targeting drugs and weapons.

Police executed 25 warrants today at 15 residences in communities including Porters Lake, North Preston, Cole Harbour, Dartmouth, Halifax and Moncton, N.B. The accused range in age from 15 to 49 and face a variety of charges - the most notable relate to drugs and firearms.

Police also say they've laid what's believed to be the first charge of human trafficking in Atlantic Canada.

Police say such a charge involves the recruitment, transportation or harbouring of a person for the purpose of exploitation.

The man facing that charge is also accused of living off the avails of prostitution.
