
Manitoba chicken barn fire destroys 25,000 birds; causes $900K damage

KLEEFELD, Man. - About 25,000 chickens have been destroyed in a barn fire in a southeastern Manitoba.
Steinbach RCMP say the fire in the Rural Municipality of Hanover caused about $900,000 in damage.
The blaze burned the barn to the ground, but crews from several nearby fire departments were able to save a second structure.
The fire commissioner's office is assisting with the investigation.
A cause for the fire has not yet been determined.
