Police complete investigation of fatal shooting of Saskatchewan woman

Published Wednesday July 8th, 2009

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. - A police investigation into the fatal shooting of a woman by officers in Prince Albert, Sask., has ended, but details have not been made public.

Jacqueline Montgrand, 44, was shot after officers were called to a residence in March 2008.

Police have said Montgrand was threatening the officers with a knife and when they tried to retreat, they couldn't get out.

The woman's family had been critical of police for what they called a lack of information on the shooting.

Insp. Kelly Stienwand says investigators shared some information with the family at a recent meeting, but adds he can't reveal what was said.

A coroner's inquest will be held, but a date has not been set.

So why didn't this investigation reveal what was holding the officers back from getting out? Montgrand had a knife... but their was more then one officer there, it's not like it was a one on one thing, I'm sure they could have overpowered her. And I don't see why they wouldn't have been able to get out. It doesn't make much sense at all.
