McGuinty says that after months of job losses and bankruptcy proceedings with Chrysler Canada's parent company, there is hope among workers that the company can thrive once again.

And while many taxpayers have expressed frustration over the billions of dollars committed to bail out Chrysler and fellow automaker GM, he says the money has helped stabilize the sector.

Finance Minister Dwight Duncan, who toured the Chrysler plant with McGuinty, says that unlike Prime Minister Stephen Harper, he believes the automotive industry will come back.

Duncan says a recent bounce in Ford sales - which last month jumped by 24.6 per cent as its competitors restructured - is giving GM and Chrysler hope that things can turn around.

The 3,500 Chrysler minivan plant workers returned to work last week after being off the job for two months during the company's bankruptcy proceedings in the U.S.
