COPPER MOUNTAIN, Colo. - Jasey-Jay Anderson defeated Canadian teammate Matthew Morison in the parallel giant slalom final at the opening FIS Nor-Am event of the snowboard season Friday.
"Today's race was very good training before the World Cup season starts," Anderson said. "The calibre at the event was pretty good, so we didn't take the race lightly. Our focus and approach was the same as a World Cup race.
"The Swiss team is here, so is the Japanese team and of course the American team, so we didn't neglect any details."
Anderson, of Mont-Tremblant, Que., has defeated Morison, of Burketon, Ont., in the gold-medal duals of the last four Nor-Am events dating back to last season.
"It's not frustrating, the guy is good," Morison said of losing to his teammate. "I wake up the next day and go back to work, trying to constantly get better than the day before."
Alexa Loo of Richmond, B.C., added to the Canadian medal haul with a bronze in the women's event.
