Underage Alta. girl given drugs, forced into prostitution, allege RCMP

RED DEER, Alta. - A man in central Alberta is accused of providing illegal drugs to an underage girl and forcing her into prostitution.

RCMP in Red Deer say that during an investigation this week into a child abuse complaint, information surfaced about an alleged sexual assault and a young female being forced to work as a prostitute. Police allege that a 40-year-old male befriended the girl, provided her with drugs, forced her to act as a sex-trade worker and talked to her about getting involved in other criminal activity.

RCMP say they're continuing to investigate allegations that other girls may have been alleged victims of the suspect.

Michael Braumberger of Red Deer is in custody facing several charges, including one of sexual assault.

He will appear in a Red Deer courtroom Nov. 25.
