Most actively traded companies on the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange markets

TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Friday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (11,464.41 up 27.61 points):

Coalcorp Mining Inc. (TSX:CCJ). Miner. Up nine cents, or 28.13 per cent, to 41 cents on 6,043,599 shares. The Toronto company traded heavily this week on news it had reached a settlement with Glencore International A.G regarding a sales contract.

Khan Resources Inc. (TSX:KRI). Miner. Up 17 cents, or 38.64 per cent, to 61 cents on 5,659,826 shares. Atomredmetzoloto, a large uranium producer with operating mines in Russia and Kazakhstan, made an all-cash offer to acquire Khan in a deal pegged at $35.1 million.

B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Up four cents, or 3.48 per cent, to $1.19 on 5,642,838 shares. The Vancouver-based company's stock closed at its highest level ever Friday after actively trading this week on news gold production from mines in Nicaragua will triple to between 120,000 and 130,000 ounces next year.

Ventanna Gold Corp. (TSX:VEN). Miner. Down $1.47, or 13.09 per cent, to $9.76 on 5,448,561 shares. The gold sector was off 1.83 per cent as the December bullion contract on the New York Mercantile Exchange was down $12.80 to US$1,174.20 an ounce.

Farallon Mining Inc.(TSX:FAN). Miner. Down half a cent, or 1.15 per cent, to 43 cents on 5,015,856 shares.

Yamana Gold (TSX:YRI). Miner. Down 24 cents, or 1.69 per cent, to $13.95 on 4,667,613 shares.

TSX Venture Exchange (1,405.60 down 13.77 points):

Gold Wheaton Gold Corp. (TSXV:GLW). Miner. Down a penny, or 2.74 per cent, to 35.5 cents on 4,255,391 shares.

Encore Renaissance Resources Corp. (TSXV:EZ). Miner. Down a penny, or five per cent, to 19 cents on 3,735,577 shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Canadian National Railway (TSX:CNR). Transportation. Up 64 cents, or 1.16 per cent, to $55.64 on 492,318 shares. The union representing locomotive engineers was in last ditch negotiations with the railway giant just hours ahead of a midnight strike deadline.
