New Brunswick premier says public view on carbon tax is clear
Published Wednesday October 15th, 2008

FREDERICTON - Premier Shawn Graham says the message is clear - New Brunswickers don't want a carbon tax.
The Liberal premier's comment comes after the federal Conservatives captured three seats from the Liberals in New Brunswick in yesterday's election. Pundits say the results showed clear dissatisfaction with the Liberal Green Shift.
A provincial carbon tax is part of a discussion paper on taxation reform in New Brunswick.
Graham says he's waiting for the report of an all-party committee that gathered input this summer.
The premier says while no decision has been made, it's clear that New Brunswick's concerns about a carbon tax were echoed during the federal election.
