
Canadian Patrick Chan to start skating season at Cup of Russia

Canadian world silver medallist Patrick Chan will kick off his skating season in Moscow, Skate Canada announced Saturday.
Chan, a native of Toronto, starts at the Cup of Russia in October while women's world silver medallist Joannie Rochette of Ile-Dupas, Que., makes her first appearance in Beijing on Oct. 29.
Dance duo Tessa Virtue of London, Ont., and Scott Moir of Ilderton, Ont., will debut in Paris along with the pair of Jessica Dube of Drummondville, Que., and Bryce Davison of Cambridge, Ont., and Calgary's Vaughn Chipeur at the first of six International Skating Union Grand Prix events.
Twenty-nine Canadians will compete in the circuit, which also makes stops in Nagano, Japan, and Lake Placid, N.Y.
Canada hosts the final event, with the HomeSense Skate Canada International held in Kitchener, Ont., in November.
