Atomic Canada issues precautionary recall for certain ski bindings

Published Wednesday December 24th, 2008

TORONTO - A Markham, Ont., company is issuing a precautionary recall affecting certain ski bindings.

Atomic Canada, Inc., a division of Amer Sports Canada, says the recall affects heel components of certain bindings manufactured between 1998 and 2002.

The worldwide recall applies to models of Atomic Race, Xentrix, Device, Centro and Dynamic binding models.

The company says the heel housing component of these bindings could crack, possibly causing the binding to release early, and thus posing a fall risk to the skier.

Atomic Canada is directing owners to take their skis to an authorized dealer where an appropriate replacement will be made free of charge.
